How Surveillance Systems Can Increase Productivity

How Surveillance Systems Can Increase Productivity

Surveillance systems can have positive impacts on productivity, safety and service.

  • Productivity- If employees know they are being watched they will often be more industrious and less likely to spend company time on personal tasks or non-work activities. Moreover, the footage can be used to identify and reward your hardest workers.
  • Safety and Security- Surveillance systems can help prevent workplace incidents, control inventory, and provide peace of mind to employees, customers and vendors. The footage of a security incident can help police officers’ investigations.
  • Service and Training - Surveillance systems allow managers and training staff to watch employees interact with customers and vendors in real-time. This data can be used to enhance customer interactions, refine training procedures, or resolve customer disputes.

Bottom line is that surveillance systems allow you exercise a powerful tool over your business - OBSERVATION

We know that it’s sometimes often impractical for supervisors to constantly watch employees, as other tasks such as meetings, bookkeeping, or inventory often demand their attention.  In addition, safety is the most important part of any workplace, and hiring  professional security personnel can be expensive.

If you’ve considered implementing a security system at your location, let us help you select the right surveillance camera system to best suit your needs.

At Atkal Communications, we take into account your concerns to find a solution that’s right for you. Am I paying too much on my monthly phone bill for too few services?

Am I paying too much on my monthly phone bill for too few services?

When was the last time you read your phone bill? Not paid, but actually read the phone bill. Take a moment and read your phone bill next time you get it and look at what you are being charged for.

The traditional land line is a cumbersome expensive option with equipment that should be serviced regularly. There is often no easy way to control the flow of data in and out of an organization, or to adjust the scale of the phone system.

The solution?

Switch to VOIP. VoIP is short for voice over internet protocol and uses the internet to make and receive phone calls.

VoIP has several distinct advantages to a traditional phone line.

No copper wire required - VOIP runs on your network like any other application, meaning adding phones is an easy process that doesn't require the hassle of a traditional phone system.

Voicemail is easier than ever to access- A traditional phone systems menus can be a hassle to navigate let alone program, many VoIP systems often allow their users to listen to voicemail, and make and receive calls via their tablet, smartphone or other WiFi enabled device.

Save money- While the cost of communication has dropped, many phone companies haven’t adjusted their rates to scale with these price drops. VoIP communication is often less expensive than the traditional land lines.

Collaboration is as easy as a few clicks- Conference calls on a traditional phone can be tricky matters, but most VoIP systems come with accessible group calling features that help meetings start smoothly.

We specialize in finding you the best phone resources at a fair cost. Let us look at your phone bill and see if we can help lower your telecommunications costs.

At Atkal Communications, we take into account your concerns to find a solution that’s right for you. From identifying business phone systems to designing proper network cabling that support your communication and data infrastructure, Atkal Communications can help. How Important Are Mobile Capabilities?

With employees always on the go, it matters now more than ever that employees be able to conduct business away from the office.  Think about how much time you and your employees spend on your phone, and then think about how much of that time is spent on your mobile device.  Chances are that you’re conducting business fairly regularly through that little screen in your hand.

But what if you could do more?  What if you could have calls easily routed to you from the office to your hand-held device?  What if you could easily transfer that same call to a co-worker’s extension, without having to step within 5 feet of your desk? Sound appealing?  Yeah, we think so too!

If your current phone system does not offer these capabilities, then it may be time to consider making a few changes.  Today’s phone systems are affordable, full of functionality for the betterment of your employees, and can ultimately help propel your business to new levels. If you’d like to receive more information on how Atkal Communications can help advance your communications needs,  give us a call.

Should your business use surveillance cameras?

on Thursday, 12 March 2015.

Trust is one thing, but being able to monitor your business through a lens brings a level of security that gives piece of mind.  Here are 3 reasons why your business should utilize surveillance cameras:

  • Monitoring activity:  Regardless of the size of your operations, it’s comforting to know that you can “check-in” on your business at your leisure, offering you peace of mind.
  • Improve business process:   Management can monitor operations to make sure that business is running smoothly. Bottlenecks can be identified and corrections can be implemented to maximize productivity.
  • Security:  Peace officers have their hands full, why not lend a helping hand by offering security footage of any crimes that occur at your location?  Should something occur, surveillance cameras can record activity that can help local Officials find the offenders.  To quote an article from the Huffingtonpost.com “crime dips when cameras role”.

If you’ve considered implementing security cameras at your location, let us help you select the right surveillance camera system to best suit your needs.

3 VoIP Myths Debunked

on Thursday, 26 February 2015.

1. VoIP technology is “too new”

While most people think of VoIP as a newer technology, the reality is that VoIP technology has been around over 20 years.  In 1995, a small company in Israel named Vocaltech, Inc first introduced a product, InternetPhone, that allowed a user to call another user through their computer equipped with a microphone and speakers.

2. VoIP is expensive

VoIP can reduce business expenses in several ways.  For example:

  • A VoIP phone system can free you up from ever having to install new phone lines.
  • A VoIP phone system can utilize existing services that you’re already paying for.
  • A VoIP phone system offers additional features that can help increase productivity, such as voicemail, voice conferencing, video conferencing, and call forwarding.

3.VoIP phones are difficult to use

VoIP technology is integrated into systems that you and your employees are already accustomed to using, such as the web and smart phones.  Customizable management portals also allow you to create a simple interface with the most common features.

If you have any questions about VoIP, or are want to learn more about how VoIP can be the right solution for your business phone needs, contact us and we’d be happy to help.

How does a company make it easier for their team members to communicate?

The Secret To A Successful Project

Endless meetings and status reports are the bane of any project, so how can a company increase productivity and efficiency while completing their projects?  Well, there are multiple processes we can evaluate and share with you, but we believe that the secret is much simpler actually.  In any project, there is one basic principle that can make a world of difference in its success or its failure -

Communication.

So how does a company make it easier for their team members to communicate?  For starters, a company can utilize their business phone system to take advantage of unified communication.

Project teams are typically made up of different personality types, some introverted and quiet, while others much more vocal. But regardless of team dynamics, the basic need for communication remains consistent throughout any business process.

Wikipedia defines unified communications as the “integration of real-time, enterprise, communication services such as instant messaging (chat), presence information, voice (including IP telephony), mobility features (including extension mobility and single number reach), audio, web & video conferencing, fixed-mobile convergence (FMC), desktop sharing, data sharing (including web connected electronic interactive whiteboards), call control and speech recognition with non-real-time communication services such as unified messaging (integrated voicemail, e-mail, SMS and fax).“

Through unified communications, project teams can utilize a set of tools that empower the members by giving them the tools necessary to communicate effectively and collaborate with one another, regardless of location.  If you would like to learn more about unified communications, Atkal Communications can help.

What Unified Communication means and why you need it.

on Thursday, 15 January 2015.

An effective way to streamline communication

Unified Communications is a term used to describe a phone system, usually a business phone system, that integrates real-time communication services, such as instant messaging, mobility, telephony, video conferencing, file sharing, data staring, speech recognition, call control and  other collaboration capabilities into a seamless environment.

So what does this mean to large and small businesses?

It means that in today’s fast-paced working environment, communication can be streamlined and can also eliminate the high cost of third-party services.

How you ask?

Since unified communication systems utilize current technologies, users no longer need to open multiple applications to communicate internally or externally, such as with your clients.

Many unified communication systems integrate with common business applications, such as Microsoft Outlook or Salesforce.com allowing users to make phone calls directly from within those applications.

Have employees in multiple locations?

Through unified communication systems, employees can contact one another to receive answers instantaneously, without ever leaving your network. Whether your employes come to the office everyday, or are mobile, unified communication systems allows them to communicate in such a manner that won’t delay transactions.

Unified communications is the foundation for today’s business processes making it easier to connect data and voice in more natural and useful ways.

If you’ve researched business phone systems, chances are that you’ve encountered terms that are completely unfamiliar, and if you’re just interested in a system that serves your business needs, the process can be a bit overwhelming.  The following is a list of some of the terms you may encounter, and their meaning.  When conducting your research for the perfect business phone system, this list can serve as a basic quick reference.

PBX
- PBX is an acronym for Private Branch Exchange.  A PBX system is a private network used by businesses to make internal and external calls.  With a PBX system, you connect the lines provided by the telephone company and the phones in your office to the PBX.
IP-PBX

VoIP
- VoIP is short for voice over internet protocol.  In a VoIP system, your calls utilize the internet as the means of communication
IP Phones
- IP Phones are phones that know how to convert voice into data and back so that it can be transferred over the Internet.
CPE

Is It Time To Upgrade Your Phone System?

on Monday, 08 December 2014.

Do you ever wonder if your current phone system is the right one?  Is it the best phone system to suit your business needs? If these thoughts have crossed your mind, then it’s probably time to ask yourself if it’s time to upgrade your phone system.

One of the key determinants in identifying if it’s time to upgrade your phone systems, is to take an in depth look at your existing phone system.

Use. Are you having any problems with your existing phone system?  If so, what are they and how could a new phone system help solve these problems?

Cost.  Is the current phone system expensive to maintain? How much does it cost to make changes to the existing system?  Is the cost of third party conference call services escalating? Is it costing you more and more every time you add a new phone?

Efficiency.  Are customers having trouble reaching the right person, spending too much time on hold, or unable to leave a message due to full mailboxes?

Accessibility. Are you noticing more and more employees using smart phones in the office so that they can take advantage of the phones features? Is your workforce mobile?

Satisfaction. Are you happy with your existing phone system?  Are your tech-savvy employees happy with your phone system?

If any of these questions have caused a slight wince, then it may be time to consider options for a phone system that may be better suited to reach your company’s communication goals and needs.

Changing your business phone system can often seem to be an overwhelming task, but it doesn’t have to be. Being aware of the company’s communication pain points is the first step.  The second step is to work with a company, such as Atkal Communications, to help identify  and implement the right phone system for your business.

5 Reasons Why A Cloud-Based Phone System Is Right For Business

on Monday, 24 November 2014.

Cloud-based phone system

If you are like most businesses, you probably have a phone service through a local phone carrier with traditional hardware-based phones. Whereas this may seem to work just fine, we’d like for you to consider these reasons as to why a cloud-based phone system may be a better solution for your business.

  1. Ease of Use.  A Cloud-based based phone system can be set up in mere moments.  All you need is access to a reliable internet service.  Once set up, changes and updates made to the system are done in one place and saved in the cloud, making changes live everywhere instantaneously.  No more going desk to desk to apply changes.

  2. Scalability and flexibility. Cloud-based phone systems are flexible and customizable to meet the needs of your business.  If there comes a time when you need to add more phones, it can be as easy as a click of a button.

  3. Increased Functionality.  Cloud-based phone systems can integrate fax systems and call routing without the need for additional equipment.  Additional functionality can include receiving your voice mails via email, recording calls for training purposes, routing calls, analyzing call tracking data and integration with databases.

  4. Reliability.  Cloud-based phone systems are extremely reliable and offer redundancy which is not offered with non-cloud solutions.  If the Internet goes down, most systems are accessible through your smart phone.

  5. Space.  Unlike traditional phone systems, with the Cloud you can remove space limitations which can cause you to miss calls and lose voice mails.  Say goodbye to full mailboxes.

Small and large businesses are benefitting from cloud-based phone systems. A one-person consulting business can assist clients from anywhere without being stuck behind a desk. An insurance company can easily add a line when a new agent comes on board. So whether you’re a small company with 1-5 employees or a 300-person business spread across 300 miles, a cloud phone system can be right for you.

The Importance Of Scalability In A Business Phone System

The phone: still the hub of business communication-whether on a desk, through a computer, or in the palm of your hand.*

Alexander Graham Bell is credited for having invented the phone as we know it, but did you know that there were multiple people who's ideas and contributions made the phone possible?

The phone was a culmination of efforts that incorporated concepts that began with those famous two cans connected by the ends a single string. The idea was that the diaphragms of the cans could collect the sounds from the air and a sting could transmit the sounds to the other end.

With the rapid pace of technology, countless individuals continue to contribute to the advancement of communication through intricate systems that continue to make up the "hub of business communication."
